This school year, Maple will identify K, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students for remediation by beginning of the year assessment scores. For K, an assistant will be utilized for the reading and math block to provide small group, direct instruction that meets the academic needs/skill deficits of identified students. Students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade will utilize Mindplay and/or ASCEND technology programs for approximately 30 minutes per day to fill deficit skill areas in reading and math. This will occur before/after school or during the 30 minute a day SST intervention block. This will be managed by T1 Lab Instructional Assistants who will work under the direction of the classroom teachers. Small group instruction will be provided in the lab setting when the program shows a student needs additional instruction/remediation.
There will be an instructional assistant to support the T1 cluster of students in each 3rd and 4th grade classroom by pre or re-teaching content in small groups. Students will be provided additional access to intervention programs, such as ASCEND and Mindplay by having 10 Think Pads in their classroom available. After school remediation will be provided for 3rd and 4th grade students during the 2nd and 3rd nine weeks of the school year. Transportation and snacks will be provided and 2 licensed teachers will be hired to work intensively with these identified students.
The Annual Parent Meeting in early fall will be offered at two different times to accommodate parent schedules.
